Medical Services and Support

Medical emergencies and ailments are an unfortunate reality that exists. These take a heavy toll on the patient as well as on their families. While the cure remains in the hands of the doctors, Savali joins the family in their hour of need by providing financial assistance for critical surgeries or treatment.

Savali operates its own 2000 sq ft Medical Centre at Walvanda, Jawhar District, Maharashtra. This district, though a few hours’ drive from Mumbai, due to socio-economic factors is a very backward area which lacks even basic medical facilities. Since its inauguration in a modest way in May 2018, the services offered have gradually increased and currently our Medical Centre is fully equipped and staffed with qualified Doctors, Nurses, a well-equipped Pathology Lab, X-Ray Unit, Dental Clinic and Ophthalmology Clinic. Annually, over 65,000 Patients within the radius of over 25 kms avail the services of this Medical Center which provides treatment and medicines at a nominal cost of Rs. 20.

Savali also operates three mobile Vans fully equipped with qualified Doctors, Nurses, Pathology lab and medicines. Rather than expecting all Tribals /Adivasi’s to reach the Medical Center which may not be possible due to paucity of transport facilities etc., these mobile vans run on a daily fixed schedule of visiting 52 hamlets / villages and offering medicines on site.

Together, Savali’s Medical Centre and Three Mobile Vans cater to medical needs of approx. 1,65,000 Adivasi population in 164 villages in remote areas.

Savali has made available to the community an Ambulance Van 24X7, to ferry patients from the village /hamlets to the nearest hospital during medical emergencies. This service has benefited hundreds of patients and expectant mothers and has saved countless lives.

Savali has started the X-ray facility from 26th January 2024 for correct timely diagnosis and treatment to address issue arising from accidents / respiratory & heart problems. X-Ray facility is conducted in the separate building inside Savali’s owned medical centre premises. Dr.Bhusara, Radiologist examines the X-Ray films and gives the report. Patient response has been extremely good.

Savali has started Ophthalmology Department from 22nd July, 2023. Dr. Kambli M.S. from Jawhar has offered his services for the same. Savali has also installed the necessary modern equipment like the Visuref Refractor Machine and other accessories for the same. This service was very essential as private clinics are expensive .Operation facility for Cataract and free distribution of spectacles are also provided by Savali.

Dental department was inaugurated on 6th June 2022 with the financial co-operation of Terminal Technologies (I) Pvt. Ltd. Renowned dentist Dr. Chittatosh Thakare from Wada, Taluka Jawhar, has taken over the responsibility of the dental department. Initially. The response is very good. Around 400 people have benefited from this service in first 9 months. This service is also provided by Savali based on the principle of no profit no loss. Savali on a case-to-case basis, provides financial assistance to patients, especially children with birth defects for corrective surgeries. Every year over 50 patients benefit from this and many children post-surgery are now leading a normal life with a bright future.

Savali provides nutritious food to 800 primary school children in 27 Zilla Parishad Schools in the age group of 6-9 years. Under this Program, children are provided multivitamin tablets, protein-based foods such as milk, eggs, dates, mixed flour bhakris, Rajgira Ladoos and Nachni biscuits etc to take care of their physical and mental growth. Periodic checkups are conducted by Specialists and nutritional plans for students are developed by Savali.

Under "Healthy Woman & Healthy Child" Program, Savali has identified 267 young girls who are underweight and have vitamin deficiencies. Unless corrective steps are taken at a young age, these women will in all probability will deliver a malnourished child. To rectify this, these women are given special diet and Iron & vitamin supplements to ensure that this anomaly is corrected, their health is constantly monitored through medical test. This is an on-going program and will continue till the women deliver their first child.

Savali runs a ‘Amenic Women Medical Support Program’ covering over 681 women, wherein identified women are given special diet and with medicine supplements to improve their overall weight and well being and make them more productive.

Savali runs a program to Track Hypertension and Diabetes amongst the Adivasi population. Under this program, patients are continuously monitored and counseled to ensure that parameters remain under control.
